Event Starts: Saturday, July 6, 2019, 9:00 am
The 2019 Michael Cuccione Foundation ‘Kick for a Cure' proved to be an awesome event again this year raising over $175,000! The continued support from Coquitlam Metro Ford and Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Nuvin Runghen made for a perfect day for the thousands of people that participated. Thank you to Steve Darling who added his own special touch as MC and who continues to participate in the soccer tournament every year.
Canadian Tire with their generous supply of toys was out in full force offering fun for all the kids at the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Fun Zone!!  Thank you to all the volunteers and Canadian Tire staff that make this a highlight every year. The kids enjoyed a soccer clinic and an invitational tournament conducted by Alfredo and Giovanni Valente and had a blast with Canadian Soccer Legend Carl Valentine.   Thank you to all the children and families for their participation and pledges. Cancer survivor Dominic Runghen and dad Nuvin’s speach reminded the crowd why we were all there with an inspirational message. Onstage Dr. Gregor Reid, Researcher in the Michael Cuccione Childhood Cancer Research Program (MCCCRP) highlighted the advancements made over the last year and shared the exciting new initiatives going forward.  The MCCCRP researchers also put together a soccer team and participated in the adult tournament for the second year in a row.  Live Band by Quickness and 2 Scoops Productions DJ provided entertainment throughout the day playing traditional favourites and classic hits. A huge thank you to the Methanex Champions for supporting this event for the past ten years raising a grand total of $445,000.  For the seventh year in a row they raised the most donations with over $65,000.  Also special thanks to Sheppys Sheep for raising close to $22,000 this year.  Thank you to our Field Sponsor, Immix Group, Fremont Storage and Hardy & Nella from RE/MAX.  RBC was a welcome addition for the second year in a row showing up in full force to count and deposit the money from the day’s events and entering two teams in the adult soccer tournament. The beer garden hosted by The Rivers Reach Pub was a huge success and Molson Canadian generously donated all the beer.    Brown’s Social Club went above and beyond supplying burgers for the day, Golden Boot was there for the pasta lovers and Cannoli King offered sumptuous fresh cannoli.  McDonald’s supplied delicious coffees for everyone with the McCafe truck and friendly staff. We thank everyone for your heartfelt participation and continued support and we look forward to seeing you there next year on July 11, 2020.
